Rodjen 1973. u Nišu. Radi kao asistent-pripravnik na studijskoj grupi Anglistika Filozofskog Fakulteta u Nišu (predmet: američka književnost). Priprema magistarski rad na temu DELO H.F. LAVKRAFTA U SVETLU HOROR ŽANRA.

Filmsku kritiku, književnu kritiku, eseje i prevode sa engleskog objavljivao u časopisima GRADINA, NIŠKI ANALITIČAR, PRESSING, PRESSING MOVIE, ZNAK SAGITE, kao i u fanzinu EMITOR.

Crteže (grafike), pretežno fantastične i horor tematike, nije nigde objavljivao. TRANSCENDENCE je njegov prvi strip.

TRANSCENDENCE

Strip TRANSCENDENCE baziran je na kratkoj priči čiji su autori Edward Lee i John Pelan. Edward Lee je kultni američki pisac horora, poznat po spoju ultra-brutalnog ''splatter'' horora sa žestokim erotskim elementima. Najpoznatiji romani su mu INCUBI, SUCCUBI, BIGHEAD, THE SHIFTERS, PORTRAIT OF A PSYCHOPATH AS A YOUNG WOMAN (kolaboracija sa Elizabeth Steffen)... Nekoliko svoji kratkih priča već je adaptirao u scenarije za stripove, koje objavio strip magazin VEROTIK Glenna Danziga.

Scenario za strip uradio je sam Edward Lee, a crtež poverio Dejanu Ognjanoviću nakon što je video neke njegove ilustracije.

Priča/ strip govori o čoveku koji u potrazi za transcendentnim iskustvom putem rituala seksualne magije dolazi do knjige neophodne za ključni ritual i istovremeno upoznaje devojku koja je spremna da sa njim ide do kraja...

Strip sadrži prilično ekstremne SM i splatter prizore, ali su oni uglavnom opravdani pričom kao i okultnom logikom. Najbliža vizuelna paralela ovom stripu bio bi serijal filmova HELLRAISER, samo sa naglašenijim erotskim motivima.

Strip je radjen crno-belo, sa vrlo detaljnim senčenjem, na 18 strana, i predstavlja zaokruženu priču (mada postoji mogućnost za nastavak). Dijalozi i ostali tekst (kao ni ''baloni'' za njih) nisu uneseni, jer je planirano da se to uradi kompjuterski.

TRANSCENDENCE će biti objavljen u Americi ovog leta (2002) kao zasebno luksuzno izdanje koje će sadržati originalnu priču, strip, kao i galeriju ilustracija Dejana Ognjanovića horor tematike ali nevezanih za sam strip ili priču. Izdavač je Necro Publications, izdavačka kuća specijalizovana za ''small press'' izdanja pretežno horor orijentacije. Necro Publications je vlasnik prava samo za Severnu Ameriku. Sva ostala prava su vlasništvo autora, tj. Leeja, Pelana i Ognjanovića.

Born in Nis (Serbia), in 1973. Currently working as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of English Language and Literature (Subject: American Literature). Preparing MA thesis: THE WORK OF H.P. LOVECRAFT IN THE CONTEXT OF HORROR GENRE.

He published film criticism, book reviews, essays and translations from English in such magazines as GRADINA, NIŠKI ANALITIČAR, PRESSING, PRESSING MOVIE, ZNAK SAGITE and the fanzine EMITOR.

His drawings, mostly black and white and mostly with dark fantastic or horror themes have never been published. TRANSCENDENCE is his first comic.

TRANSCENDENCE

The comic TRANSCENDENCE is based on a short story by Edward Lee and John Pelan. Edward Lee is a well known American author with a cult status among fans of horror, famous for his merging of splatter horror with strong erotic elements. His most famous novels are INCUBI, SUCCUBI, BIGHEAD, THE SHIFTERS, PORTRAIT OF A PSYCHOPATH AS A YOUNG WOMAN (collaboration with Elizabeth Steffen) etc. He has personally adapted several of his stories into comic scripts eventually published in Glenn Danzig's magazine VEROTIK.

Script for the TRANSCENDENCE comic has been done by Edward Lee, who offered the artwork to Dejan Ognjanovic upon seeing some of his illustrations.

The story - and the comic- deals with a man in search of a transcendent experience via rituals with sexual magic. He comes across a book necessary for the ultimate ritual at the same time as he meets a girl willing to go with him - all the way...

The comic contains extreme SM and splatter imagery justified by the story as well as by the logic of the occult. The closest visual parallel to this comic would be the HELLRAISER series, but with a stronger erotic element.

The artwork is done in black and white, with detailed etching, in 18 pages, and contains a full story (although a sequel is possible). The dialogues and other text will be inserted by the computer.

TRANSCENDENCE will be published this summer (2002) in the USA as a special publication which will contain the original story, the comic adaptation, and a gallery of artwork by Dejan Ognjanovic (horror themes, but unrelated to the story or comic). The publisher is Necro Publications, a company devoted to small press editions of extravagant and extreme horror fiction. Necro Publications holds the rights for the North American edition. Rights for the rest of the world are still held by the authors: Edward Lee, John Pelan and Dejan Ognjanovic.
